On the Charges & taxes tab, you set the percentage discounts technicians can apply, flat-rate additional charges, and the sales tax rates used in job estimates.

Who can do this: Owners only, with an active subscription.

Steps

  1. Go to Settings > Quote pricing > Charges & taxes.

  2. Select Edit.

  3. Add or change items in the sections below.

  4. Select Save changes. You see "Charges & taxes have been updated".

Discounts

Percentage discounts that technicians can apply to job estimates, such as senior or repeat-customer discounts. Select Add discount, then enter a Discount name and a Rate (%) from 0 to 100. Use the trash button (Remove discount) to delete one. If none exist you see "No discounts configured yet."

A discount is taken off the whole subtotal: service charge, labor, parts and additional charges, before sales tax.

Additional Charges

Flat-rate charges that technicians can add to job estimates, such as a trip fee or after-hours service. Select Add charge, enter a Charge name and a Price ($) (0 or more), and switch Taxable on if sales tax applies to it. Use the trash button (Remove charge) to delete one. If none exist you see "No additional charges configured yet."

Sales tax

Select Add sales tax, give the rate a Tax name, and set Service (%), Labor (%) and Parts (%), each from 0 to 100. The service rate also applies to taxable additional charges. Switch Default on for one rate. The default rate is applied to every new quote automatically. Use the trash button (Remove sales tax) to delete a rate. If none exist you see "No sales tax rates configured yet."

If you have any sales tax rates, exactly one must be the default. Otherwise you see "Choose exactly one default sales tax".

Troubleshooting

  • Could not save charges & taxes. Some changes may not have been applied.: reopen the tab, check what saved and try again.

  • "Rate cannot exceed 100%" or "Rate cannot be negative": enter a rate between 0 and 100.

  • These values are part of your template. Reset to default restores them along with all other pricing sections.
