Type a serial number or attach a photo of the nameplate in chat and Iven works out the brand and model for you.

You can type a serial number into the chat, or attach a photo of the unit's nameplate (service plate). Iven reads it and sets the brand and model for the chat. There is no separate serial number field.

Who can do this: Any team member, when your team has an active subscription.

Use a serial number

  1. Open a chat.

  2. Type the serial number in your message, for example with your question.

  3. Send it. Iven shows Looking up model from identifier... while it searches.

What happens next:

  • One match: Iven sets the brand and model for you.

  • Several brands match: Iven asks you to choose.

  • The result differs from the model already chosen in the chat: Iven asks which one is right. It does not switch on its own.

  • No match: Iven tells you it could not find it. Pick the brand and model yourself.

Use a nameplate photo

  1. In the message box, click the paperclip button and choose a photo. On a phone or tablet you can also tap the camera button to take a photo.

  2. The photo shows as a chip with its file name, or Taken photo. Click the X on the chip to remove it.

  3. Send the photo. You can add text, or send the photo alone.

If you send the photo alone, Iven replies with what it read: brand, model and unit details such as serial number, date and voltage. It then asks you to correct anything that looks wrong. It sets that brand and model for the chat.

If Iven cannot read the plate, it says I couldn't read the service plate and asks you to type the brand and model or try a clearer photo.

Photo rules

  • Use a JPEG or PNG image, up to 10 MB.

  • One photo per message.

  • A photo cannot be sent together with an option button choice.
